History

For the purpose of filling an order from Herbert Musgrave Phipson, proprietor of Phipson & Co. Wine Merchants from Bombay, India.

The Black Dog Whisky was originally blended and bottled in Scotland in 1883 by James MacKinlay, a second-generation blender of the Leith-based family of Scotland. Walter Samuel Millard, a 19-year-old British employee of Phipson who arrived in 1884

and was in charge of sending the shipment back to India, supporting him in this effort. According to folklore, Millard Black Dog, the creator of the company, named it after his preferred Black Dog salmon fly.

There is no proof or evidence to support the claim that Millard, a 19-year-old Herbert Phipson employee, had a Scotch Whisky brand named in his honour.

Black Dog Black Reserve –

It is an eight-year-old Scotch whiskey that was once known as Black Dog Centenary. In September 2006, New Delhi hosted the launch.

Black Dog Gold Reserve Aged 12 Years –

Before, it was called Black Dog Deluxe. It was Black Dog’s original variation.

Black Dog Quintessence Aged 21 Years – 

This edition has 25 single malt and grain whiskies, the majority of which are from Scotland’s Speyside Valley. There were only 3,540 bottles made in the limited edition. The 2013 Internationaler Spirituosen Wettbewerb awarded the combination a gold medal.

Black Dog Reserve Aged 18 Years – 

This mixture of old malt and grain whiskies has been maturing in oak barrels for at least 18 years. It debuted in April of 2011. It won the Scotch Whisky Gold Best in Class Award.

Deluxe Blend –

Black Dog Whisky Aged 18 years category won gold at the Internationaler Sprirituosen Wettbewerb in 2013. 

Black Dog Millard’s Private Reserve 14years –

With fresh citrus flavors, vanilla undertones, and gently toasted oak, this mix of 14-year-old single malts is said to also include single malts from the Linkwood distillery. The two extra years of maturation have also allegedly added to the blend’s particular smells and flavors.
